Pantastic is Sunderland's Community Steel Pan Band. We are currently a 18 strong group of mixed ages and physical abilities. We play a variety of music from traditional Caribbean calypso to 50's rock 'n' roll right through to modern pop music. The band has a 13 year history and has been through many changes in that time but is still going strong.
We are based in Sunderland, Tyne and Wear but have travelled across Northern England and beyond to perform.
** THE BIG PUSH IS ON! ** Pantastic are in need of a whole new set of Steel Pans so we need to raise more than £8000 for the new kit. We got some great donations in 2008 from the 25 performances we did giving us a good start but there is still a long way to go. But in 2009 and 2010 we are approaching a new era and its going to be a very exciting year for the band. Keep an eye on the Gig List which will be updated regularly with all our events. So please join us and get behind the band. |

24/12/2009 2009 round up - Merry Christmas and Happy New Year! First of all I'd like to congratulate Noelle, the winner of the Asda Hamper Raffle who came to the Grindon URC, aka Pantastic HQ, to receive her prize as we loaded for the Durham Cathedral Mencap event (piccie to follow!). Although we have had to cut short our run of concerts for the Christmas period short by one event due to the weather conditions (hopefully we'll catch up with the residents and staff at Grangewood some time soon) we've had a great close to 2009 in the last 2 months and received massive support from the following groups. - Seaham Christ Church Ladies Group made us very welcome and donated a massive amount through various methods of fund raising during the brilliant evening we spent there. Thank you all and we hope to see you all again next year!! - Hope 4 Kidz boosted our funds with a cheque for providing entertainment at their Roker Hotel event. Thank you very much and we wish you all the best in the sterling work that you do to enrich the lives of disabled and poorly kids in the North East. - The Village Nursing Home staff and residents made us extremely welcome on 2 occassions in 2009 with a summer set and a winter set. Its always a pleasure to drop in for the afternoon and we hope to return soon to get the lounge swinging to the pans! - Haswell and District Mencap - Once again we provided pre-service entertainment for the Mencap carol service and will see Hayley and the Haswell team soon for the charity ball at the beginning of 2010. Can't wait! Bookings are starting to come in for 2010 already and with a few new members joining, next year has signs of being our biggest yet! We hope you'll come join the fun! 20/01/2010 Haswell & District MENCAP Charity Ball Last Friday we had a great night at the MENCAP Charity Ball at the great new venue of Rainton Meadows Arena. We performed a 75 minute set once we managed to peel the guys away from the Aston Martin. We hope they reached their target to buy a new bus to continue their community transport work.

13/08/2010 A Little Update The Summer has been full of fun for Pantastic culminating in the next 3 weeks being the busiest for quite some time click on the giglist at top of the page to see whats coming up. Pantastic have welcomed a few new members in recent months; Kati, David C, John, Courtney and Marie. We have a couple more additions to the regular set list.
